HOW TO RUN A COMPANY: A FEW PRACTICAL TIPS
Finding the right niche and actually making proper use of ones skills isn’t easy. It’s one of those things that sounds simple until you’re in the middle of it. I’ve got two main things brewing: TV work (broadcast & corporate) and an idea for a media + merchandise project that will raise the profile of women in motorsports. Very early stages. What I’ve learned so far: Pick the right place: Dubai felt like the right base for me (if you haven’t already, check out my company setu

Living life from one suitcase is a quiet rebellion against clutter, constant need to buy things and the traditional idea that happiness needs square footage. When everything I own fits behind a zipper, my day feels lighter (literally and metaphorically;). I don’t waste time choosing between versions myself hanging in a closet, I simply get dressed and go. To be clear, I still have beautiful pieces in my one bag. Chosen, special, good quality, yet practical. So my style game i

HOW TO PITCH A TV SHOW: IDEAS & why inspiration never shows up on time.
People often think "coming up with ideas” means sitting at a desk, staring poetically into the distance and waiting for genius to strike like lightning. Spoiler: that is not how it works. At least not for me. If I sit down and force myself to “be creative,” my brain immediately goes on a lunch break. My ideas usually arrive at the most inconvenient moments: during random conversations, mid-scroll in the Uber, while I’m eavesdropping (professionally, of course) at the cafe,

HOW TO BE A PRESENTER: ON THE ROAD UPDATE
I'm filming non stop for the next few weeks, travelling from Czechia to Poland, followed by Germany, Austria and Italy. This time in a brand new role as presenter, not a director or producer. It's a full-on, (low) budget production, so a lot to film and very little time. I've done similar things before, but I've come to realise how demanding a presenter's job actually is. I thought that sometimes 'the talent' have it a bit easier than the production team, though that's defini

NEW (UNEXPECTED) CHALLENGE: HOW TO BE A PRESENTER
This is a very unexpected and unplanned challenge. Recently I got asked if i want to be a co-presenter on a 6 part history series. I've directed and produced quite a lot of history stuff over the years, but always standing behind the camera (I've covered a few WW1 and WW2 things, but also ancient Egypt, medieval times and some more recent stories). I genuinely like digging into the past, as it allows me to explore people, different cultures and relationships between countries

HOW TO RUN A COMPANY: APRIL 2025 UPDATE
I'm now set up, and full-time working and living in Dubai. Much as beginnings are never easy (and endings are not easy either, bye bye London..). I'm in the middle of flat-hunting also. 2025 is definitely a year of big change and new opportunities. I'm excited what the future holds. It took a while to get everything organised, but fingers crossed it will all be worth it. I now run my very own (and my first ever) media production company: GOOD MEDIA PRODUCTIONS . I still do TV

HOW TO PITCH a TV SHOW: DEALING WITH FEEDBACK
If there’s one thing the creative world guarantees - besides caffeine dependency - it’s feedback. And sending a couple of ideas to a well established production company was a fresh reminder that feedback can swing anywhere between "ooh, interesting!" and "yup, that’ll never get made." I pitched two concepts: a property reality show and a women-in-motorsports documentary. And honestly? The response was medium. Not soul-crushing, not champagne-popping. I'd sum it up as OK-ish w

HOW TO RUN A COMPANY: SET UP IN UAE (Freezone)
Here's in a nutshell how I set up my company in the UAE. This is the freezone version (open to international businesses wanting a base in the Emirates, BUT effectively operating somewhat in an off-shore style - great starting point for the UAE and a popular set up among foreigners). There is also the mainland option, which is becoming more and more open towards single ownership by a foreign person (previously you needed a local Emirati partner), but I'll do a seperate post o

Taking a week off in Sardinia together with friends of Andy. Beautiful home right by the beach. Sunshine, boats, fresh breeze, blue waters. Sardinia is a true gem in Europe. Honestly, the waters are Carribean-like and it's just a couple of hours away from London or Munich. Random relationship advice: food and eating is what keeps a couple together, and of course similar values and expectations in life. But above all, loving good food and eating. The rest is negotiable.
