5 BEST THINGS TO DO IN MALLORCA ON VALENTINES DAY

Just a few cool suggestions for a Valentines weekend in Mallorca.

My general rule: simple does it. It's not an over-the-top Valentines, so don't expect fancy restaurants with highly choreographed special effects. It's a down to earth evening (or a few days) spent with your loved one.

1. Head to the beach for a sunset

Es Trenc, Deia, Soller Port...to name a few options, but there are endless possibilities on this stunning island. Buy a few basic tapas at the local shop and sit down on rock or sand - blanket if you have one - and enjoy the views while munching on manchego and jamon serrano .

2. Visit a boutique hotel in Soller or Palma.

In the morning take a stroll through the town and sip a some coffee together (possibly with a little sweet something on the side) . My recommendations for hotels: El Guia or La Vila. La Vila is right by the main square in Soller, el Guia is slightly hidden in a backstreet. Meanwhile in Palma, I really love Can Quetglas . So far they've got 5/5 on Google reviews and they truly deserve it.

3. Dinner & drinks in Palma.

You can book ahead if you want to be 100% sure you get a table, but I rarely do... simply stroll through the cobbled streets and sit down anywhere that takes your fancy. The top restaurants can be booked out, but the more down to earth spots are usually fine without reservations. There's plenty to choose from, especially around the district of Santa Catalina, though one of my fave restaurants is actually by the airport, it's called Sa Farinera. Go for a steak with pepper sauce, amazing! Worth booking a table if it's a weekend or Valentines day for that matter.

4. Roadtrip around the island If you love cars, then a roadtrip is must. Rent a cute car and visit gorgeous spots in the south west (Andratx), up north (Banyalbufar, Pollensa) or head inland ( Santa Maria del Cami, Esporles). There's so many options and everywhere is beautiful! The good thing, it's an island, so you can see quite a bit in 2 or 3 days.

5. Relax in bed Spend half a day or a day in bed. Simple as that. Below photos from the Can Quetglas hotel which I mentioned before, they have a great swimming pool for the summer.
