I've had 8 lessons since the start of the year. It might not seem like much BUT I’m very consistent doing it every fortnight. Let’s not forget how much time I spend in the edit with the history series I’m working on. I go to the ice rink every other Wednesday and do a one to one 30min lesson with my coach. After that I stay on to train on my own. It’s an adult session with not that many people around usually, recommend it if you want to practise without bumping into kids ;-)

I’ve also got myself new skates (second hand, bargain!), so I’m no longer spinning around in the cheap £20 pair that felt like granny’s slippers. Mind you, skating in super basic boots made me work harder to find my balance, so everything seems much easier now with these new babies. The new ones are from a very good Italian brand called EDEA (among others, Evgenia Medvedeva skates in them too) and I can definitely feel the difference. It’s all very personal what kind of a boot or blades you prefer, I’m no expert, but I can assure you a solid pair of skates will have a massive impact on your ‘style’ and overall progress (big words for me…I have no style yet) .

Yes, I’m still working on the pirouette on one leg… so far no more than a wonky two or three spins. But you know me, I’ll get there.
