Here’s a few photos from the last Warsaw ‘Barborka’ Rally which takes place every year at the end of the Polish rally season. Over the years, it’s become an iconic event gathering the best of Polish drivers and special guests from around the world.

'Barborka' also refers to the 4th Dec and Saint Barbara, who is the patron...of miners. Still, a relatively big celebration in Poland (mining used to be big here). Also ,if you know any Barbaras or Basias wish them a 'Happy Imininy / Nameday'!

The rally includes a couple of special stages with the last, famous one taking place around the winding Karowa street right in the heart of Warsaw. Even though it’s freezing outside this time of year, there’s always thousands of enthusiastic spectators and of course lots of fun.

This year the rally was won by Kajetan Kajetanowicz, who is very well known in Poland, but he’s also got a growing fan base around the world as he successfully competes in the European Rally Championship. This was his car for the Lotus Rally team.

As you can see, it snows a lot around December in this part of Europe. I only managed to stand outside for half an hour and badly needed a shot to warm myself up afterwards!

Special Guests included the French driver Bryan Bouffier.

Meanwhile backstage, I had a go behind the steering wheel of the iconic Polish Polonez, which was driven by one of my friends in the historic vehicle class of the rally.
